In September 2013, ITFL returned to Malawi to work with long-term collaborators Future Kings Vibrations, in the studio ITFL built in Lilongwe in 2011: Record for Life Studio 1.
This project was designed in partnership with international development agency Christian Aid; Malawian NGOs including long-time partners Music Crossroads Malawi; and the Malawian Ministry of Health district hospital in Karonga. The goal was to create music with strong messages that can be used as outreach material to help communities face some of the challenges of poor maternal and child health.
This created essential communication tools to raise the level of knowledge and provide examples of good practice in maternal and child health. Songs were left as a legacy to be used among women’s community groups to effectively spread positive health messages.
The Future Kings Vibrations songs are now being used on a maternal health radio programme and at community events in Karonga.
